No DNA evidence or official documents have confirmed those claims. Meanwhile, Omar has consistently denied the accusations.
Her congressional biography states she arrived in the United States during the 1990s. Her family fled civil war in Somalia.
In an interview with Newsmax, Homan said officials were reviewing the case. He said authorities were gathering records and files.
Homan also said the Department of Homeland Security was examining visa fraud concerns in Minnesota’s Somali community.
Visa Fraud Review in Minnesota
According to Homan, officials are reviewing visa applications in Minnesota. The department claims that 50 percent of visas issued there may be fraudulent.
He said President Trump instructed officials to conduct a deeper investigation. Authorities aim to hold individuals accountable if violations occurred.
Trump also repeated the allegations during an interview with Politico. He spoke with journalist Dasha Burns about the issue.
The comments followed criticism from Omar regarding immigration enforcement operations in Minneapolis.
Context of Immigration Enforcement and Fraud Investigations
The operations targeted illegal Somali nationals. Authorities said the crackdown followed revelations of a $1 billion welfare fraud scheme.
Investigators said some funds were sent to the Somali terror group al-Shabaab.
Trump also criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz during the interview. He accused the governor of failing to address the situation.
Meanwhile, Omar has dismissed the accusations as “baseless and absurd.” She has also described them as Islamophobic conspiracy theories.

A 2019 investigation by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune identified discrepancies in Omar’s marital records. However, the report said the issues were not fully explained.
Public records indicate Omar married Elmi in a civil ceremony in 2009. At the time, she was still religiously married to Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi.
She later said she separated from Elmi in 2011. However, she did not file for divorce until 2017.
During that period, Omar and Hirsi had a third child together. She later divorced Hirsi again in 2019.
Community Testimony and Additional Claims
Reporting from the Daily Mail cited testimony from Abdihakim Osman. Osman is described as a Somali community leader in Minneapolis.
He claimed Omar told friends that Elmi was her brother. Osman alleged she wanted immigration papers for him.
According to Osman, the Somali community did not know about the marriage initially. He said the certificate became public years later.
